BEIJING, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Triple Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league champions the Beijing Ducks will bring in stronger guards and centers to enhance their squad, Qin Xiaowen, CEO of Beijing Shougang Sports, revealed on a press conference on Monday.

"I cannot tell you our specific plan, but we have talked with the coach and agreed that we need better guards and centers," Qin said.

The CEO also noted that the Beijing Ducks are undergoing a rebuilding process and the only goal for that is for the team to return to its prime. But, as he acknowledged, it takes time.

"We have been making progress in the past two seasons, given that we started from ninth in the CBA league," Qin said. "Next season, we will adhere to playing team basketball as always. We will introduce stronger guards and centers to the team during the offseason, whatever it takes."

This season, the team lost to Shenzhen 3-2 despite leading by 2-0 in the dramatic quarterfinal series, unable to reach the last four for the fourth consecutive season after their historic three championships in four years from 2011-2015.

"I believe we will perform better next season," Qin added.
